Dominique Hogan-Doran

Dominique Hogan-Doran is a Sydney barrister specialising in commercial and property litigation. She is a director of the National Women's Justice Coalition and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

In 2002-2003 Hogan-Doran was national President of Australian Women Lawyers, the peak organisation for women legal practitioners and students in Australia. As President, Hogan-Doran was an active legal and social commentator, participating in interviews with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the Bulletin magazine, and newspapers including the Australian Financial Review, the Australian and the Sydney Morning Herald.

In December 2003, Hogan-Doran addressed a major seminar on the End of Equality held by the Sydney Institute, a conservative think tank led by Gerard Henderson. Her paper "Keeping Gender on the Agenda" was subsequently published in 2004.

Education

Hogan-Doran undertook her secondary education at Loreto Convent, Kirribilli, NSW (1984-1987) and St. Ursula's College, Toowomba, Qld (1982-1983). Her tertiary studies included a Bachelor of Economic (Social Sciences) (1988-1990) and Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) (1988-1992) from the University of Sydney. Hogan-Doran was President of the University of Sydney Union in 1990-1991, and was awarded the Convocation Medal in 1993 for academic excellence and contribution to the life of the university.

Hogan-Doran was awarded the Sir Robert Gordon Menzies Scholarship in Law for 1994, and as a Menzies Scholar read for the Bachelor of Civil Law at the University of Oxford, graduating with First Class Honours in 1995.

Hogan-Doran is a former Research Director to NSW Supreme Court Chief Justice A.M. Gleeson, now Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia.
