The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) was founded in July 1990. It is a membership organization devoted to civil liberties in "cyberspace". It provides legal counsel, and in many cases funds or actual legal representation, for cases in which civil liberties are threatened or interfered with in some information-driven context (such as Internet censorship, access to strong cryptography for personal use, and so forth).
The EFF offers press releases, white papers, or action alerts on a variety of subjects, and is a leading organization in dispelling Internet-related disinformation.
Co-founded by John Perry Barlow and Mitchell Kapor. [1]
