"Prior to joining CIMA, Elsa participated in international programming at Free Speech TV. While there, she further diversified content, initiated collaborative productions with the Manhattan Neighborhood Network, and performed specific outreach to Latin American media producers at the 2003 World Social Forum. In 2004-5, Elsa wrote community-use study guides for POV/American Documentary, Inc. and co-wrote “The State of the Spectrum: The Movement to Reclaim the Nation’s Airwaves,” published by Common Assets. Previously, she’s worked in indie film & video distribution, exhibition, development, fundraising and grant making at several San Francisco and national media organizations, such as the Independent Television Service (ITVS), Frameline, the National Asian American Telecommunications Association (NAATA) and the Rockefeller Media Grants. She holds degrees in International Studies, Psychology and Broadcast & Electronic Communication Arts (focusing on public interest media). Elsa has produced anti-hate crime PSAs and programs addressing mediation skills and the U.S. Census, as well as, film and literary events highlighting the work of women, LGBTQs and people of color. She is the first recipient of the Audre Lorde poetry award and served on editorial boards for Asian American and other anthologies. Currently, Elsa serves on the boards of Women's Audio Mission (WAM), dedicated to teaching audio technology to women and girls, and Queer Women of Color Media Access Project, which provides video training to women and transgender people, and continues to associate produce independent films.“ [1]
