Enrique J. Sosa
Enrique J. Sosa, of Florida, was nominated February 10, 2006, by President George W. Bush to be a Member of the AMTRAK Reform Board. Sosa replaces Linwood Holton, whose term has expired. [1]
Sosa was appointed to the Board on January 4, 2006, by President Bush in a recess appointment. Sosa was first nominated by President Bush on February 6, 2004, and introduced June 2, 2004, to the Senate Committee on Commerce Science and Transportation.

Although his appointment was passed by a voice vote July 22, 2004, by the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, Sosa was not confirmed by the Senate during Bush's first term. President Bush then appointed Sosa in a recess appointment July 30, 2004.
Sosa's appointment was then resubmitted September 10, 2004, following his recess appointment, and again on January 24, 2005, to the Senate for confirmation.
According to Senate records, Sosa's appointment was submitted to the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation January 24, 2005. The White House lists the status of Sosa's appointment as pending.

Enrique J. Sosa is a former Amoco and Dow executive with more than a 35-year career in the chemical industry. Sosa "oversaw worldwide chemical and marketing operations for Amoco before the corporation merged with BP in 1999. ... As executive vice president, Sosa headed Amoco’s chemicals sector before becoming president of BP Amoco Chemicals after the two companies merged. Prior to joining Amoco, he was senior vice president of Dow Chemical and president of Dow North America. He also was a member of Dow’s board of directors and executive committee. A native of Cuba, Sosa has been a U.S. citizen since 1971. He maintains residences in Chicago and Key Biscayne, Fla. Sosa, who joined Dow in 1964, holds bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in agriculture from the University of Florida." [3]
