Fanhai Hongdunjie power station (通海控股陕西泛海红墩界煤电有限公司) is a proposed 1,320-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Shaanxi Province, China.

Background on Project

Tohigh Holding has been permitted to build a 2 x 660 MW ultra-supercritical coal plant in Hongdunjie Town, Jingbian County.

Satellite footage from Planet suggests construction began around March 2016.

Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity

In 2016 China's National Energy Administration issued "scale control" (coal-fired capacity limits) on particular "sending out" locations that feed ultra-high voltage (UHV) long-distance power lines, including Inner Mongolia (Xilingong), Inner Mongolia (Ordos), Shaanxi, Ningxia, and Xinjiang.

As of January 2017, the affected area includes this power station, which may be scaled down as a result.

Commissioning postponed to 2020

In May 2017 it was reported that commissioning was planned for December 2017, however in February 2018 it was reported the power station is planned for operation in December 2020, perhaps in response to the scale control restrictions.
