Frank Gómez "oversees initiatives to identify and strengthen relations with organizations that are important to Educational Testing Services (ETS), the world’s leading educational assessment and research institution. The nonprofit company scores more than 50 million tests per year, including the SAT, GRE and the Test of English as a Foreign Language. In this capacity, he works with the business units, Marketing and Public Affairs, Government Relations, research departments and others at ETS. His efforts also focus on increased outreach to the Latino community. He was formerly Executive Director of External and Media Relations. Prior to joining ETS in 2005, he was Senior Director of Corporate Communications and Executive Outreach at Altria in New York City. He directed a $12 million program of community relations, corporate image advertising, an adult literacy program, and support for government relations efforts. He also increased favorable coverage of the company in foreign, African American, Hispanic and other media. Gomez had previously worked as a Washington-based international affairs consultant on behalf of clients in France, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Latin America and the United States. As a United States Foreign Service Officer from 1965-1984 he worked primarily in public affairs, communications and cultural affairs. He capped his career as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs, following postings in Haiti, Mali, Costa Rica, Colombia and Washington. During his diplomatic career, he earned five outstanding service awards, and was a U.S. Jaycees Outstanding Young Man of America. He was also honored by Partners of the Americas.
"He is the past president and a current member of the Executive Committee of the board of the Pan American Development Foundation, and past Chairman of the [[Hispanic Council on International Relations]]. He has also served on the boards of the World Affairs Councils of America, and the Executive Council on Diplomacy, both based in Washington, DC. He was a founder of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, the National Association of Hispanic Publications and the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda, among others. Gómez has been honored by the National Association of Hispanic Publications, the League of United Latin American Citizens, the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and many other organizations. A graduate of the University of Washington, he earned a Masters in Public Administration from George Washington University. He completed a Graduate Fellowship at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton, University, and completed the Advanced Executive Program, Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, and the Certificate in Translation, New York University. For ten years he taught French and Spanish translation and International Relations at New York University. He chairs the Public Relations Committee of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (ANLE)." [1]
