Democratic pedigree
In 1997 Hochberg was nominated as Deputy administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA) by President Bill Clinton.[2]. He was confirmed in the position in early 1998 and served in the position, eventually becoming the acting Administrator until 2001.[3]
OpenSecrets classified Hochberg as a major fundraising 'bundler' for the 2008 Obama campaign, collecting between 100,000 and $200,000. (Bundlers collect contributions from a number of contributors and donate to the campaign in one contribution).[4] Following Obama's election, Hochberg was appointed as a part of the Obama-Biden Transition Team as one of two 'team leaders" to review the Small Business Administration.[5][6]
Hochberg was nominated by Obama to head the Export-Import Bank in April 2009 and sworn in in June 2009.[3]
