Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) is a multi-service utility owned by the City of Gainesville, Florida. GRU is the fifth largest municipal electric utility in Florida.[1] GRU owns and operates the Deerhaven Generating Station and has been considering building a new coal-fired electric generating unit at the plant to meet the future power needs of its community.[2]
