Gành Dầu power station was a 200-megawatt (MW) coal plant under development on Phú Quốc Island in Kiên Giang province, Vietnam.

Background

In March 2010, the Vietnamese government agreed to the construction of a 200-MW, $357 million coal power plant on the island of Phú Quốc, off the far southern coast of Vietnam. The plant would be built by the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin). At that time, the first phase of the project was projected to be operational in 2015.

However, no news on this plant is available since 2011, and other sources list the project as being cancelled.
