Gbarain Gas Plant power station is an operating 225-megawatt (MW) gas-fired power plant in Gbarain-Ubie - Yenagoa LGA, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.[1] It is also called NIPP Gbarain-Ubie Power Station and Gbarain Power Station.

Background
Gbarain is one of several National Integrated Power Projects, which have been deemed "critical infrastructure in the generation, transmission, distribution and natural gas supply sub-sectors of the electric power value chain" by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.[2]
Gbarain gets natural gas delivered from the nearby Shell Gbaran-Ubie Integrated Oil and Gas Project, although in 2017, Gbarain and its fellow NIPPs suffered a gas shortage and stopped producing electricity off and on for several months.[3][4]
