"General trade" is doublespeak widely used within the tobacco industry referring to criminal tobacco smuggling organized by tobacco companies. Other phrases used for the same purpose include:
- Duty Not Paid or "DNP"
- Transit,
- Parallel Market
- Second Channel
- Border trade
