Bush Presidential Center, the Bush Institute undertakes serious, independent research in its areas of focus, in order to develop practical solutions to public policy problems. It will frequently work in partnership with non-profit private institutions, businesses and U.S. and international government agencies...
"On September 1, 2009, President Bush named former Undersecretary of State James K. Glassman to be the Founding Director of the George W. Bush Institute, charging him with the task of building “a world-class institute that will promote policies and programs rooted in the core ideals of freedom, opportunity, responsibility, and compassion.” On November 12 of that year, at a speech at SMU, President Bush formally opened the Bush Institute, described its mission, and announced the appointment of its first four Fellows for the calendar year 2010." Members of the Bush Institute’s new Human Freedom Advisory Council convened for the first time on September 19 in Dallas. The Council’s purpose is to advise on matters of strategic direction in the Human Freedom initiative, one of the six programmatic areas of the Bush Institute. Chairing the Human Freedom Advisory Council is Stephen Hadley, former Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs.
