Location

Background
According to the project's 2011 environmental clearance permit, the exact location for the project in Tonagatu village has been determined, with a land requirement of 79.92 acres. Fuel for the plant will be mixture of coal, washery rejects, and dolochar in the ratio 50:20:30.[1]
The first unit began operating in May 2014.[2] Unit 2 is under construction.[3]
Opposition
Two killed
In August 2016 two persons were killed and several others injured in a police firing. The shooting followed a police confrontation with a crowd of about 3,000-4,000 plant protesters, who were demanding compensation and jobs for the land acquired by Inland Power for the coal plant.[4]
