Background on Plant

Guangzhou Zhujiang power station is a four-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 1,280 MW in Guangdong Province. The units were completed between 1994 and 1997. The plant is owned by Guangzhou Development Industry Holdings.[1][2]

Unit 5

Unit 5, totaling 1,000 MW, has EIA permit but not DRC approval.[3][4][5][6]

The project was among 15 projects cancelled by China's National Energy Administration (NEA) in September 2016.[7]
