Guiyang power station (国电贵阳发电厂) was a 600-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Guizhou Province, China. The plant was retired in 2013.

Background on Plant
Guiyang power station was founded in 1957. The total capacity reached 199MW in 1970 with 8 units. The 8 units were retired in 2000. Two 200MW units were completed in 1995 and 2004. The plant was owned by Guodian since 2002. [1]The plant was retired in 2012, and has subsequently been demolished in 2013.[2][3][4]
Details of Expansion Project
A relocated expansion project has been proposed, and was commissioned in 2016. It was called Guodian Zhijin power station. [5][6]
Ownership
On August 28 2017, China's State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) announced that China Guodian Corporation and Shenhua Group will be jointly restructured. Shenhua Group will become China National Energy Investment Group and will absorb China Guodian Corporation. It will be the largest power company in the world by installed capacity, as well as the world's largest coal producer.[7][8] The merger was completed on November 28, 2017.[9]
