Background
In October 2016 Mitsubishi announced a plan to replace the existing coal-fired plant at its Hachinohe paper mill with a biomass-fired plant.[1] Construction of the biomass plant began in November 2017.[2] The biomass plant was commissioned in September 2019 and the coal-fired units were retired.[3]
