Background on Plant

Hanfeng power station is a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 1,320 MW. The plant was completed in 2001.

Siemens and HAW (Hamburg) were among the initiatory shareholders, with 24% and 16% shares, respectively. In 2012, the two German companies sold all their shares of the power plant. They are the last foreign companies retreating from China's power market due to unreasonable electricity prices, according to an analytic report by Southern Weekend.

As of 2019 the power plant is owned by Huaneng Power International (40%), Weirong Investment Co. Ltd,(40%), and Hebei Construction & Investment Group Energy Investment Co, Ltd. (20%).
