Harvey Pitt was appointed by President George W. Bush as the 26th Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Formerly a partner at the international law firm Fried Frank Harris Shriver and Jacobson, Pitt, a long time resident of Washington, DC and father of four, was considered the top if not among the top four corporate attorneys in America before his appointment.
Pitt inherited from former Chairman Arthur Leavitt the debacles of Enron, WorldCom and others in the some of the greatest frauds in public corporation history and worked very hard to establish new guidelines.
Pitt resigned November 6, 2002 to head a global consulting firm, Kalorama Partners in Washington , DC.
