The Holfontein coal prospect is a coal deposit located in the Witbank Coal Field in South Africa. On its website Coal of Africa Limited states that "Holfontein is located near the middle of Sasol’s Secunda coal production area. It has remained undeveloped due to interpreted geological complexity."[1]
In CoAL's 2017 Annual Report, they announced they had sold the rights to the Holfontein thermal coal project in 2017,[2] which they had been trying to offload since at least 2014.<ref>Coal of Africa Limited Integrated Report 2014, Oct. 2014, MC Mining website, accessed Nov. 2019.
