Huadian Gong (Gongxian) power station (华电珙县发电厂上大压小（黄桷庄发电厂异地扩建）一期项目) is a 1,200-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Sichuan Province, China.

The power station replaced the Hongjiaozhuang power station (华电黄桷庄发电厂二期).

A 2,000 MW expansion of Huadian Gongxian power station has been proposed.

Background on Plant

The two existing coal-fired units of Huadian Gong power station, totaling 1,200 MW, were brought online in 2011. The plant is owned by China Huadian.

Gongxian power station was the reincarnation of the Huangjiaozhuang Power Plant, which was located in Yibin City until it was shut down in 2014 over its high emissions. Before the closure, Huadian built the Gongxian power station in Gong County to replace it.

Description of Expansion

Huadian is seeking approval to build two additional coal-fired units at this plant, with a total planned capacity of 2,000 MW.

2016: Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity

Due to new restrictions announced during 2016 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, further capacity expansions at this location appear to be on hold or cancelled.
