Huadian Jiangling power station (华电江陵电厂一期) is a 1,320-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Hubei Province, China.
An additional 2,000 MW is proposed but postponed for after 2020.

Background on Project
In 2013 China Huadian said it was planning to build a four-unit coal-fired power plant with a total planned capacity of 3,320 MW in Hubei Province.[1]
Units 1 & 2
The first two 660 MW units of the plant were initially scheduled to begin construction in 2014.[2][3]
The two units were permitted for construction in June 2015,[4] and began construction in September 2015. They are planned for completion in 2017.[5]
Unit 1 was commissioned on December 31, 2017.[6]
July 2017: Unit 2 postponed by government
In July 2017, the NEA released the "Guideline of Supply-Side Reform of the Coal Power Bubble". The Guideline included a draft list which slowed down or halted 185 coal-burning units across 21 provinces, totaling 107 GW. 114 coal units (65 GW) are ordered to slow down the construction progress during 2017 to 2020, and are not allowed to connect to the grid in 2017. In addition, 71 coal units (42 GW) were halted indefinitely for regulation violations. The list partly overlapped with the projects listed in the January NEA letter to 13 provinces.[7]
Huadian Jiangling power station Unit 2 is among the postponed coal-burning units,[7] and also appeared on an updated list of postponed projects released in September 2017.[8]
August 2018: Unit 2 commissioned
Unit 2 was commissioned in August 2018.[9]
Units 3 & 4
2016: Units 3-4 Shelved by Nationwide Restrictions
Due to new restrictions announced during 2016 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, further capacity expansions at this location appear to be on hold or cancelled.
