The map below shows the plant, which is located in Zhenxiong County, Zhaotong Prefecture, Yunnan Province.
Background on Plant
The two existing coal-fired units of Zhenxiong power station, totaling 1,200 MW, were brought online in 2012. The plant is majority-owned by China Huadian.[1]
Proposed expansion
Huadian was planning to build two additional coal-fired units at this plant, with a total planned capacity of 1,200 MW.[2]
However, since the first power station entered operation it has faced coal supply shortages, and has been operating an average 40% of capacity since beginning operation. The proposed expansion is no longer mentioned.[3]
