Background on Plant

The four coal-fired units of China Huadian's Zibo power station, totaling 950 MW, were brought online between 2003 and 2013. The first two units were 89 MW and retired in 2014. Units 3 and 4 (145 MW each) went into operation in 2003,[1] and units 5 and 6 (330 MW each) in 2012-2013.[2][3]

Description of Expansion

According to Platts, Huadian is planning to build two additional coal-fired units at this plant, with a total capacity of 1,320 MW. The new units were scheduled to be completed in 2015.[4]

However, as of 2016 there are no other reports on this proposal, and plans appear to be deferred or abandoned.
