Huadian Zibo power station (华电淄博热电公司) is a 950-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Shandong Province, China.

Background on Plant

The four coal-fired units of China Huadian's Zibo power station, totaling 950 MW, were brought online between 2003 and 2013. The first two units were 89 MW and retired in 2014. Units 3 and 4 (145 MW each) went into operation in 2003, and units 5 and 6 (330 MW each) in 2012-2013.

Description of Expansion

According to Platts, Huadian is planning to build two additional coal-fired units at this plant, with a total capacity of 1,320 MW. The new units were scheduled to be completed in 2015.

However, as of 2016 there are no other reports on this proposal, and plans appear to be deferred or abandoned.
