Background on Plant
The two existing coal-fired units of Huaibei Guo'an power station, totaling 640 MW, began construction in 1997 and were brought online in 2000. The plant cost US$333 million and is owned by Wenergy and SDIC.[2][3][4][5][6]
Description of Expansion
The plant's owners are currently planning to build two additional coal-fired units at this plant, with a total planned capacity of 2,000 MW.[3][7]
2016: Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity
Due to new restrictions announced during 2016 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, further capacity expansions at this location appear to be on hold or cancelled.
