Location
The map below shows the location of the plant, in Luohe Town (Luohezhen), Datong District, Huainan Prefecture, Anhui Province.
Background on Plant
The six existing coal-fired units of Huainan Luohe power station, totaling 2,500 MW, were brought online between 1985 and 2010. The plant is owned by China Datang.[1][2][3][4]
In 2010, two 600 MW units that were constructed in 2007 were upgraded to 630 MW each.[5] As of 2014, the configuration of the plant was as follows:[6][7]
- Unit 1 - 300 MW - operating 1985 (subcritical)
- Unit 2 - 300 MW - operating 1986 (subcritical)
- Unit 3 - 300 MW - operating 1998 (subcritical)
- Unit 4 - 300 MW - operating 1999 (subcritical)
- Unit 5 - 600 MW - operating 2007 (supercritical) - upgraded to 630 MW in 2010
- Unit 6 - 600 MW - operating 2007 (supercritical) - upgraded to 630 MW in 2010
Description of Unit 7 (1000 MW) Expansion
Datang is currently planning to build an additional 1,000-MW coal-fired unit.[1] A feasibility study was carried out in 2011.[8][8][9][9][10]
However, there is no news on the project since its 2011 feasibility study, and it appears to be deferred or abandoned.
