The Hami Sha'erhu power station (华能哈密沙尔湖煤电联营电厂一期项目) is a proposed 2,000-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station in Xinjiang province, China.

Background on Plant

In 2011 China Huaneng announced plans for a proposed power station of two units of 1,000 MW each in the county of Piqan. The preliminary feasibility study report was submitted in 2011, and the project was originally planned to begin in 2012, although as of 2018 has not been permitted.

2016: Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity

Due to new restrictions announced during 2016 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, further capacity expansions at this location appear to be on hold or cancelled.
