Huaneng Jining Gaoxin power station (华能济宁高新热电厂) is a 60-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Shandong Province, China.

Units 3-4 of 700 MW total have been proposed at the power station.

Background on Project

Huaneng Jining Gaoxin power station is a 2 x 30 MW coal plant owned by China Huaneng that began operating in 2004. It is located in Sunshidian Village.

New units

China Huaneng has proposed a 2 x 350 MW coal plant in the Technology Development District of Jining Prefecture. It is planned for operation in 2017. Unit 3 was permitted for construction in August 2015, and unit 4 in January 2017.

Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity

In January 2017 China's National Energy Administration suspended over 100 planned and under-construction coal power projects in 13 provinces, including unit 4 of the Huaneng Jining Gaoxin power station. It is unclear when or if the projects will be revived.

2018: Construction begins

Construction began on units 3-4 in December 2018. The plant is planned for operation in 2020.
