Huaneng Shantou power station (华能国际汕头电厂) is a 1,200-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Guangdong Province, China.[1]

Background on Plant

The three existing coal-fired units of Huaneng Shantou power station, totaling 1,200 MW, were brought online between 1996 and 2005. The plant is owned by China Huaneng.[2][3]

Description of Expansion

According to Platts, Huaneng is planning to build an additional coal-fired unit at this plant, with a planned capacity of 600 MW.[2]

However, there is no information about the proposed unit on the company's website,[1] and it may have been cancelled.
