Background on Project
Guangdong Yudean Group has proposed an IGCC coal plant in the West Bank of Yinzhou Lake, Xinhui District. The first stage would be one unit with 120 MW, followed by three units of 400 MW each.[1] It is owned by Guangdong Yudean Group. The total investment will be ¥21 billion, or US$3.1 billion.[2]
The coal plant is part of Xinhui Power Plant, which includes 2*432MW gas-fired units, as well as the IGCC power units.[3]
The gas-fired power units started construction in 2015. As of 2017, the IGCC coal project is still in the preliminary stage.[4]
With no developments in over two years, the IGCC project appears to be shelved.
