Background on Project
Huaze Aluminum power station is a 2 x 300 MW subcritical captive coal plant in Hejin County. It was commissioned in 2005, and is owned by Shanxi Huaze Aluminum Power.[1] Units 1-2 have been retired.
Expansion
Shanxi Huaze Aluminum Power is seeking environmental clearance for two more units of 350 MW each, units 5-6.[1]
Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity
In January 2017 China's National Energy Administration suspended over 100 planned and under-construction coal power projects with a total capacity of over 100GW in 13 provinces. Huaze Aluminum power station was cancelled.[2]
