Ian Chalmers was appointed as CEO of the peak drug industry lobby group Medicines Australia in August 2006.
For the five years prior to joining Medicines Australia Chalmers had been the Chief Executive of the Australian Local Government Association. Prior to that he had worked as "as Executive Director of the Australian Private Hospitals Association and Executive Director of the Australian Lifewriters Association. Ian's professional experience also includes appointments as a Policy and Research Adviser in the Parliamentary Library and as a government relations consultant."[1]
