Background
The 838-MW hard-coal-fired unit generated electricity for the first time on 19 June 1985. For the production of electricity, anthracite coal is mined from a neighboring pit. Besides anthracite coal, the plant uses fuel oil, lignite coal, and sewage sludge.[1]
