Illawarra Gas Project power station is a proposed 800-megawatt (MW) gas-fired power plant in the state of New South Wales, Australia.[1] Also referred to as Port Kembla in the Australian Government's Underwriting New Generation Investments program.[2]

Background
The proposed Illawarra power station would use natural gas from the proposed Port Kembla Gas Terminal.[1][3]
The project was one of 12 projects shortlisted in March 2019 from 66 registrations of interest in the Australian Government's Underwriting New Generation Investments program, for which "the government is committed to progressing negotiations with a significant number of shortlisted projects by the end of 2019".[2]
