Independent World Television
Independent World Television (IWT) "is non-profit and accepts no funding from governments, corporations, or commercial advertising." [1]
"The Real News is the flagship show of Independent World Television (IWT)." [2]
In 2005 their website noted: "The network is raising a $7 million start-up budget from individual donors and foundations. MacArthur, Ford and Haas foundations have contributed to a planning study. In its next phase, IWTnews will launch its web site and build the online community necessary for the international mass fundraising campaign launching in early 2006. The campaign will use concerts and media events headlined by socially-conscious celebrities to drive the Internet fundraising. If half a million people in the entire world contribute just $50, IWTnews will secure the $25 million it needs to fund its first year of broadcasting, in 2007." [1]
"When Independent World Television (IWT) set out to become the world's first global independent news network, they turned to EchoDitto to guide them through the process of building an online community of supporters and donors." [2]
- Sharmini Peries, director of policy and development for IWT [3]
"Jay has, however, landed contracts with small cable companies such as America's Link TV and Regional News Network, and Canada's VisionTV, which he says collectively would bring IWT into 34 million homes." [4]
