The Institute of World Affairs (IWA) is headquartered in Washington, D.C. and "was founded in 1924 as a non-profit, non-partisan, tax-exempt organization devoted to international understanding and the peaceful resolution of conflict." Their website adds that:
- "In support of its mission, the Institute conducts a range of programs designed to prevent violent conflict and to advance post-conflict peacebuilding. These programs include training seminars, both in the U.S. and abroad, designed to enhance professional skills in conflict resolution and infrastructure development. The Institute also operates several long-term development and post-conflict reconciliation projects in the Middle East, West Africa, and the Eastern Mediterranean." [1]
