The Institute of World Affairs (IWA) is headquartered in Washington, D.C. and "was founded in 1924 as a non-profit, non-partisan, tax-exempt organization devoted to international understanding and the peaceful resolution of conflict." Their website adds that:

"In support of its mission, the Institute conducts a range of programs designed to prevent violent conflict and to advance post-conflict peacebuilding. These programs include training seminars, both in the U.S. and abroad, designed to enhance professional skills in conflict resolution and infrastructure development. The Institute also operates several long-term development and post-conflict reconciliation projects in the Middle East, West Africa, and the Eastern Mediterranean." [1]

Projects

The IWA intiated the Nigeria Journalism Network with USAID funding. [2]

Funding

"Government grants, private foundations, contracts, and individual donations are the principal sources of financial support for the Institute. Such support has come from the Hewlett Foundation and the Kunstadter Foundation, among others." [3]
