J. C. Penney
J. C. Penney (JCPenney), based in Plano, Texas, is a large department store chain in the U.S. It has more than 1,000 stores throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Besides its physical stores, it also conducts business through its catalogs and e-commerce. In 2004, it sold its Eckerd drugstores to The Jean Coutu Group and CVS. In 2006, J. C. Penney sold its controlling stake in the Lojas Renner chain in Brazil. [1]

Ad boycott against Air America Radio
J. C. Penney refused to advertise on the progressive Air America Radio. In October 2006, around 90 companies, including J. C. Penney, told ABC Radio Networks that they did not want their ads to play on radio stations that carried Air America Radio. [2] [3] [4]

J. C. Penney gave $176,650 to federal candidates in the 2006 election through its political action committee - 15% to Democrats and 85% to Republicans. [5]
