While in Yemen, he conducted interviews with leading Zaydi scholars on a number of critical issues that continue to shape Zaydism today. He will use this research for his thesis at Columbia, “Zaydis in a Post-Zaydi Yemen: Ulama Reactions to Zaydism’s Marginalization in the Republic of Yemen.”

"King’s career and research interests include Islamic law and its application in contemporary contexts, interfaith dialogue, Arabic language and culture, and Yemen. He remains committed to providing thoughtful, nuanced, and fair insight on the Middle East and Islam, especially for non-Muslim audiences." [1]
