Janet Albrechtsen

Janet Albrechtsen is a conservative columnist for The Australian, published by News Limited, a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.

In February 2005 she was appointed by the Howard government for a five year term to the board of the public broadcaster, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

Prior to writing for the Australian she had, according to her biographical note, "written for the Australian Financial Review, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Sunday Age and Quadrant magazine." [1]

Albrechtsen has a doctorate in law from the University of Sydney, where she has taught. Prior to journalism worked for the legal firm Freehill, Hollingdale and Page where she specialised in "banking and finance, corporate and securities law." [2]
