Javal S. Davis

Sergeant Javal S. Davis, a member of the 352nd Military Police Company, "the unit at the center of the Abu Ghraib prison scandal," is charged with "alleging conspiracy to maltreat detainees; dereliction of duty for willfully failing to protect detainees from abuse, cruelty and maltreatment; maltreatment of detainees; assaulting detainees; and making a statement intended to deceive an investigator" (April 28, 2004). As of May 12, 2004, no date has been set for his trial. [1] [2]

The Army Times reports on May 17, 2004:

"Newark attorney Paul Bergrin, who is representing Sgt. Javal Davis, one of the MPs facing court-martial for abuse of prisoners, said the 'MPs were being told on a consistent basis' by military intelligence, 'We are not getting enough information from our interrogations. You have to soften them up.'"
