Biographical Information

"I am an American political scientist who studies the survival and breakdown of political regimes, the dynamics of contentious collective action (things like protests, strikes, and riots), and the occurrence and dynamics of violent political conflict. From 2001 until 2011, I worked for a large government contractor as research director for the Political Instability Task Force. I now work as an independent consultant and am a fellow at the Fund for Peace, a Washington, DC-based non-profit that works to prevent violent conflict and promote sustainable security. I wrote this book on the breakdown of democratic regimes, and some of my research papers can be found here, on SSRN. " [1]
