Jayapura-2 power station is a proposed 100-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Papua province, Indonesia.

Background on Plant

In the 2016-2025 long range plan, the project is shown at 2 x 50 MW. According to the plan, the project was previously 2 x 25 MW. It was moved up from 2022/23 to 2020/21. In the 2017-2026 plan, there is no longer a new coal plant proposed for Jayapura. Instead, the plan states that future power plants are prioritized to use energy sources available in the areas close to plants in order to reduce transportation isuses and assure fuel supply. For that reason, PLTG/MG/GU plants are prioritized in the province. In the 2019-2028 long-range plan the project is changed to a single 50-MW and is scheduled for 2025, while a separate 50-MW Jayapura-3 power station is scheduled for 2028.
