Jim Cavallaro

Jim Cavallaro is the Executive Director for Human Rights Program, "and a Clinical Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. Professor Cavallaro is the former director of the Global Justice Center, a Brazilian human rights NGO that he founded in 1999. Prior to that, he directed the Brazil office of Human Rights Watch, where he began as an Orville Schell fellow. A 1992 order of the coif graduate of Boalt Hall (University of California, Berkeley), where he was an editor of the California Law Review, he clerked for the Hon. Dolores K. Sloviter, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He is the author of numerous publications on human rights issues, including a dozen reports written for Human Rights Watch, the Global Justice Center, and the International Council on Human Rights Policy. After earning his A.B. from Harvard in 1984, Professor Cavallaro spent several years working with Central American refugees in El Paso and with political prisoners in Chile.
