Jinsha Chayuan power station (中电投金元集团金沙茶园电厂, also known as Qianbei-2 power station) is a 1,320-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Guizhou Province, China.
An additional 1,320 MW has been proposed.

Background on Project
Jinsha Chayuan power station is the relocated expansion project of Qianbei power station. It is a coal-fired power plant with a total planned capacity of 2,640 MW in Guizhou Province. To build this expansion project, Qianbei power station shut down its 4*125MW units which were operating for 14 years to meet the requirement of "shutting down small to build big" policy.[1]
The power station would consist of two phases of 1,320 MW each. The first phase (Units 1 and 2) are scheduled to be completed in 2015.[2]
Units 1-2 were commissioned in January 2016.[3] [4]
2016: Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity
Due to new restrictions announced during 2016 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, further capacity expansions at this location appear to be on hold or cancelled. The proposed units 3-4 are therefore likely shelved.
Ownership
In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[5]
