Jocelyn Dow "is an activist at the national, regional and international level. Ms. Dow is a founding member of Red Thread, a women’s collective in Guyana. As a business woman, Dow is committed to environmentally sound development, exemplified in her pioneering furniture company, Liana Cane Interiors which is based on the sustainable use of non-timber forest products. Dow has served as a board member of the Caribbean Conservation Association. She has been a member of the Guyana Elections Commission and of the External Gender Consultative Group of the World Bank. She was also appointed to the United Nations Secretary General’s Panel of Eminent Persons for the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in September 2002. “ [1]
