"As President and CEO, Ms. Harris is responsible for overseeing Channel One's content, operations and overall growth strategy. In addition to maintaining Channel One's leadership position as an innovator in educational programming, she is tasked with propelling Channel One News' mission: to inform and empower young people.
"Prior to her appointment as President and CEO of Channel One in March 2005, Ms. Harris was Executive Vice President of Businesses at PBS and was responsible for revenue generation in the consumer and educational markets. In her role at PBS, she was focused on extending content into revenue streams that aided in funding new and existing programming.
"From 1999 to 2001 Ms. Harris was with Discovery Communications, where as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Consumer and Educational Products she implemented global plans for educational products, home video, publishing, license merchandise and international sales and marketing.
"Prior to her work with Discovery Communications, from 1985 to 1999 she was with Binney and Smith (Crayola) a division of Hallmark, Inc. where she was Vice President of Corporate Development. She was responsible for extending the Crayola brand and created and developed educational resources for parents and children.
"Ms. Harris received a B.S. from Drexel University in Philadelphia and has a son. She is a member of the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing; the National Cable & Telecommunications Association; Women in Cable Television; and Women in Film and Video.
"Ms. Harris is on the board of directors of NetAid, a non-profit organization that educates, inspires and empowers young people to fight global poverty; Do Something, a non-profit organization that inspires, supports, and celebrates young people changing their world in the areas of community builidng, health and the environment; and Block and Company, premier provider of banking, security and cash handling solutions.“ [1]
