Background on Plant
Kangbashi power station is a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 700 MW in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The plant was completed in 2013-14, and is owned by Beijing Energy Investment Holding.[1]
Expansion
Beijing Energy Investment Holding is seeking permitting for an additional 2 x 350 MW at the power station.[2]

Due to new restrictions announced during 2016 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, further capacity expansions at this location appear to be on hold or cancelled.
