Background

Project sponsor Gupta Energy states that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the State Goverment of Karnataka in June 2010 "for setting up Power Plant of 1320 MW (2 x 660 MW) based on Impoted [sic] Coal which sourced from overseas mines of the Group Companies."[1] The company does not mention a specific location.

As of 2014 the project is not mentioned on Gupta Energy's website.[2]
