Karyl Michaels "is in her second term of Council. Inspired by her own experiences of Australia's natural wonders she wants to preserve them for future generations. A passionate ecologist, she did a Ph.D. in beetle conservation on indicator species, and the impacts of clear felling. She helped make people aware of the conservation needs of Tasmanian frogs, indicators of the health of our land and waterways as Tasmanian coordinator of the WWF Frogs program. She is presently involved in researching the conservation and sustainable management of native vegetation on agricultural land." [1]
