Background
According to the original plan, the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) and Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) would form a special purpose vehicle with an equity participation of 50:50. Originally, regassified liquified natural gas (1,200 MW) and coal (1,320 MW) were proposed as feedstock firing the two streams of power being generated by the Rs 12,350-crore project with a cumulative capacity of 2,520 MW.[1]
The companies received a terms of reference for the coal units in May, 2010.[2]
In November, 2010, it was decided that the power station would be run on natural gas instead.[1]
