Background on Plant

Keyouzhongqi power station is a single-unit coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 330 MW in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The plant was completed in 2009 and put into operation in 2010. It is majority-owned by Inner Mongolia Yuanyuan Energy Co.[1][2][3]

Proposed expansion

Inner Mongolia Yuanyuan Energy Co. has proposed adding two units of 660 MW each to the power station.[3]

In June 2017 the company was permitted to build one 350 MW supercritical unit,[4] suggesting unit 3 has been cancelled.

Construction on unit 2 began in May 2019.[5]
